Gaining Support

We had a great meeting with the Mississippi Blues Commission last week to update them on Blues @ Home. After a positive and enthusiastic response to Blues @ Home, they agreed to endorse us and help spread the word about this amazing exhibition. One of the major projects for the blues commission is the Mississippi Blues Trail, a series of markers placed throughout the state commemorating Mississippi's blues culture. We are honored to have the commission's support and to be able to partner with such a great group of blues enthusiasts!

From the Mississippi Blues Commission Web site:
The Mississippi Blues Commission is a body of 18 appointed commissioners representing major organizations and geographic/political regions supporting blues initiatives throughout the state. It is chaired by an appointee of the governor.

T Model Ford

Happy New Year!
We're looking forward to cranking up the Blues @ Home project in 2011. H.C. Porter has already begun collecting photographs that will be transformed into her mixed media paintings.

Stay tuned to our blog for updates and news regarding the project.

Our first photo shoot was Dec. 13 with 90-year-old T Model Ford. H.C. photographed, while Lauchlin interviewed the self-proclaimed "ladies' man." Here is a quick video of the shoot inside T Model's Greenville home. His wife, Stella, is playing a track from T Model's soon-to-be-released album.
This was his first time hearing the album. He was all smiles, which is a good indication he was happy with what he heard...
