In Como with Jimbo

We hung out with Jimbo Mathus this week at his downtown Como recording studio for our most recent Blues @ Home photo shoot and interview. Jimbo talked about his long-time relationship with the blues (he's been playing music since he was only 6), his gold tooth and why he moved back to Mississippi.

This former Squirrel Nut Zipper is keeping the blues alive in Mississippi, and it shines through his music and his personality.

Here are some shots from the Jimbo shoot:

Stay tuned! We're heading to the Delta next week for two more shoots. Up next, Jimmy Duck Holmes and Bill Abel, both amazing Mississippi bluesmen participating in Blues @ Home. Hangin' with Honeyboy...

We traveled to Meridian early Monday morning to do a photo shoot with 95-year-old David "Honeyboy" Edwards. He had performed the night before at the MSU Riley Center for the Robert Johnson Memorial Tour.
We met Honeyboy and his longtime manager, Michael Frank, at the historic Weidmann's restaurant in downtown Meridian for our second Blues @ Home photo shoot.  We are so proud to have this charming Shaw native participating in the project. He is a true Mississippi blues legend!
Visit the Blues @ Home web site to find out how to sponsor one of H.C. Porter's mixed media paintings that will capture 40 of Mississippi's living blues legends. And, stay tuned as we document our journey through Mississippi to meet these amazing blues men and women!
